The reconstruction and development of the Ghor Al-Mazra'a Comprehensive Health Center is part of the initiative to develop 25 model health centers across the Kingdom. This project aims to improve the healthcare services for the local community through a comprehensive redevelopment that includes all civil works, infrastructure, finishes, electrical and mechanical systems, architectural design, medical engineering, interior design, and visual identity. The project includes everything from initial designs and studies to full implementation, adhering to the highest standards, with a focus on service sustainability, staff training, and capacity building.
Ghor Al-Mazra'a Health Center is located in the Southern Ghor District of Karak, along the international road from Amman to Aqaba, near several factories, which increases the need for an integrated health center in the area.
After reconstruction, the project area covers 1,945 m², consisting of a ground floor of 856.97 m² and a first floor of 895.25 m². The project also included the addition of auxiliary buildings, including a guard room, a medical waste room, and a stairway leading to a ladies' staff dormitory.
It was discovered that the original building was structurally unsafe and not earthquake-resistant, which made it vulnerable to collapse. Although the structural safety inspection results did not reveal these issues before work began, the project scope was amended to include the demolition of the center and its reconstruction with earthquake-resistant design.
The project included the creation of clinics for internal medicine, orthopedics, community medicine, pediatrics, family medicine, physical therapy, rehabilitation, a mammogram room, telemedicine services, a rotation system, and the expansion of the emergency department, laboratory, outpatient clinics, maternal and child health, and dental clinics.
The project cost is 2.25 million JD, funded through financial and in-kind donations from citizens, the private sector, and civil society institutions.
The project was inaugurated by His Royal Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince, in Karak, aiming to improve the quality of healthcare services November 2024.
