
Amman, Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh sponsored on Sunday the signing of a joint cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Health and the King Hussein Cancer Center. The agreement was signed by HRH Princess Ghida Talal, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Center, and Minister of Health, Dr. Firas El Hawary
According to the agreement signed at the Ministry of Health building, the King Hussein Cancer Center assumes the duties of supervision, management and operation in the Oncology and Hematology Department at Al-Bashir Hospital, including daily outpatient services and chemotherapy, according to the treatment plan determined by the multidisciplinary committee of the King Hussein Center. Cancer, in addition to providing the department with the specialized medical staff and the necessary experienced support staff
The Prime Minister affirmed his confidence in operating the cancer treatment center at Al-Bashir Hospital with the same efficiency as the King Hussein Cancer Center, which has become one of the most prestigious medical institutions at the local, regional and international levels in the treatment of cancer patients, which contributes to achieving a qualitative leap in the health care services provided
Her Royal Highness Princess Ghida Talal said that the signing of this agreement between the King Hussein Cancer Center and Al-Bashir Hospital will contribute to giving a real opportunity for recovery to every patient facing cancer in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, by providing the best means of treatment for cancer in accordance with the latest international standards. For his part, the Minister of Health affirmed that the aim of signing the agreement is to improve the services provided to citizens at Al-Bashir Hospital, and to guarantee the right of all cancer patients to receive treatment services in a safe and secure environment within conditions that preserve their humanity and dignity and take into account the privacy of their disease in accordance with internationally applied standards and protocols
He pointed out that the signing of the agreement today comes in response to the visions and directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and to achieve the partnership between the public and private sectors that the Prime Minister focuses on as a way that will lead to bridging many gaps, pointing out that this partnership is manifested in its best form between the Ministry of Health and the Center King Hussein Cancer Center, which has become one of the most prestigious centers locally and internationally. Al-Hawari praised the efforts of the Hemtna Charitable Society, which initiated and accomplished the rehabilitation and equipping of the Samih Darwaza Center for Oncology, and he also thanked all the institutions and individuals who provided their support for the completion of this important project
The Minister of Health confirmed that the Ministry is working to get out of the crucible of Corona, activate many health services and improve services provided to citizens
He pointed out that this cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the King Hussein Cancer Center today is the first of a future cooperation that serves cancer patients, which has become the disease of the age and the main cause of death in many countries. Under the agreement, the King Hussein Cancer Center will provide Al-Bashir Hospital with a list of approved drugs for treatment plans and according to the recommendations of the multidisciplinary committee and its protocols, and send a specialized team to monitor quality and public safety and another specialized team for infection control to the Oncology and Hematology Department on a regular basis to ensure that the highest international standards approved and in force in center
According to the terms of the agreement, the King Hussein Cancer Center will also set the standards required to manage patient files and issue the required periodic reports
In order to provide the best services to patients, the engineering team at the King Hussein Cancer Center evaluates the current design of the Department of Oncology and Blood (Samih Darwaza Center for Oncology) in terms of infrastructure and design (electromechanical) and makes recommendations to the Ministry of Health to make the necessary modifications
The King Hussein Cancer Center will train the cadres of the Oncology and Hematology Department, according to the time periods and capacity determined by the center
While the Ministry of Health, through the terms of the agreement, provides the medicines and medical consumables required for the treatment of cancer diseases and chemotherapy drugs according to the recommendations of the King Hussein Cancer Center, and accredits the laboratories of Al-Bashir Hospitals and the Ministry of Health to conduct the required routine laboratory tests, and approves the diagnostic radiology departments in Al-Bashir Hospitals and the Ministry of Health to conduct Radiographs required
The Ministry of Health will also make the necessary structural and (electromechanical) modifications in the Oncology and Hematology Department, provide the required equipment and supplies before starting operation, create clinics within the current building and the required waiting areas within the department floor, provide maintenance staff and the information network, and provide the required technical support as needed. Providing internal transport staff and performing periodic maintenance according to the recommendations of the engineering department at the King Hussein Cancer Center
The agreement clearly outlined the mechanism for providing treatment to patients, so that the Ministry of Health would refer cancer patients to the Oncology and Hematology Department at Al-Bashir Hospital to receive treatment according to (treatment protocols) that are not available to the Ministry, provided that diagnostic tests are performed immediately.
